We Need Your Financial Support - Visitor Centre Appeal

Eden Garden is a small not-for profit society, and as such relies upon the public, people like you, to keep it open. We are supported by donations and bequests, memberships, our small charge for entry to the garden, and endowments. We receive no funding from any government organization.

This year we have initiated a major fund-raising drive towards our new Visitor Centre and entrance building to replace the very small and ancient building that has served as Gatehouse and part-administration building for many years. It has been removed from the site and is now a tiny, vine-bedecked wedding chapel in the Waikato.

We have been lucky enough to acquire quite reasonably an existing building that is ideal for our purposes and it has been moved into the Garden.

However, we still have to raise $200,000 and we need your help to make it happen.

We Also Need Your Physical Support - Volunteer

We are a 5.5 acre garden maintained until recently by one full-time gardener and a dedicated group of volunteers. We've recently hired another full-time gardener/maintenance person but will continue to rely on the efforts of volunteers.

Please join us if you have some gardening experience. There are teams that work from 9:30 to 12:30 on either Tuesday or Friday. We stop for a cup of tea and a chat at 10:30, and the rest of the time work singly, or in teams, on a variety of seasonal tasks such as planting, deadheading, grooming, weeding, pruning and all the other jobs that a garden of this size requires. It's an enjoyable and rewarding morning out and you'll meet a group of very pleasant, like-minded people.

Or, Volunteer in the new Visitor Centre

With our imminent move to the new Visitor Centre, we will also need volunteers to help with greeting guests, answering the phone, and other general administrative duties. If you can spare a half-day per week and are familiar with office procedures and have good interpersonal skills, we would love to talk to you.
